    Nice guitar though, I like it. It looks like it has been well played — always a sign of a loved guitar.

    Thanks Matt. Definitely well played (though not always played well). One day I’ll try to remove that gunk between the frets. Or maybe not.

When I purchased my Fender American Standard Stratocaster back in 1990, I didn’t know enough about guitars to realize that . . . [slideshow=4]

. . . I had chosen the instrument that would become a flagship model for a manufacturer trying to reestablish itself after two decades of corporate ownership during which - industry observers, purist or otherwise, generally agree - it had lost connection with its musical roots.

I just liked the pretty blue lacquer and was a big fan of Clapton.
