I am a big fan of Guitar Player magazine. I used to get guitar one and guitar world, but they got too “metal” for me. Guitar player has tons and tons of really really great lessons. I get a lot of the ideas for my blog posts on their. But they also have great articles and reviews. Plus i think they cover a good variety of musical genre’s. I think it was well worth th $21 subscription for a year. That’s less than the price of one lesson!

Good info, Ross. I agree that I find myself flipping through many of the pages quickly because they are shred-centric (and I just don’t have the speed for that stuff; never have and never will). I’ll keep an eye out for Guitar Player next time I’m browsing.

Guitar One Magazine Final Issue

magazines, lessons

I usually don’t buy guitar magazines, but I bucked that non-habit a month ago and picked up what I later came to learn was the final issue of Guitar One Magazine.

As a long-time Yes and Rush fan, I couldn’t resist the allure of learning the tab for The Trees and various nostagia-inducing acoustic licks by Stewe Howe.

What I discovered was a great rag, filled with tab for neat licks that you could study both on glossy paper and by viewing online lick lessons. With mag-tab in hand - or without, if you have an eye for fingerings - these are worth a look and listen: Guitar One Mag final lessons.
